Ritratto di famiglia. I Bisi, una dinastia di artisti nella Lombardia romantica tra Manzoni, Hayez e la principessa Belgiojoso

20 September – 8 December 2025

Beginning with Giovanni Battista Sommariva's association with Villa Carlotta, the exhibition celebrates one of the most celebrated artistic families of Romantic Lombardy, who, during the Restoration and the years following national unification, profoundly innovated landscape painting, perspective views, and portraiture. Through a selection of works on loan from important museums and private collections, the exhibition explores the production and history of this formidable dynasty, which forged friendships with some of the most illustrious figures of Milanese society, from Alessandro Manzoni to Princess Cristina Trivulzio di Belgiojoso, from Massimo d'Azeglio to Francesco Hayez.
