MARKS (Monumentale Arboreto Per La Rete Storica E Il Knowledge-Management Di Spazi Innovativi Multifactory E Artistici Tra Italia E Svizzera)
Programma di Cooperazione Interreg V-A Italia-Svizzera 2014-2020
Thanks to its expertise in the virtuous and sustainable management of a complex cultural asset, the Villa Carlotta’s institution is providing its contribution in increasing the attractiveness of border areas, collaborating in the formation of a new tourist-cultural offer which main center will be the creation of a museum located in Valle Intelvi, designed by the architect Kengo Kuma, which will keep the collection of Karl Schmid.
In the frame of this project, an important part is represented by the enhancement of the arboreal heritage in the botanical garden of Villa Carlotta in relation to what will be put in place for the construction of the Monumental Arboretum in the Valle Intelvi with a dual objective:
• increase the knowledge of the present botanical heritage
• enhance the heritage to the public
The enhancement project wants to create an itinerary that includes the other monumental trees that can be found in the area between the lake and the Valle Intelvi, starting from the most valuable trees present in the garden of Villa Carlotta.
For the realization of the project, the participation of all partners will be necessary in order to complete the itinerary towards Lanzo d’Intelvi, the final destination of the route, where the Monumental Arboretum will be planted.
Within this overall picture, Villa Carlotta is carrying out a series of mapping of the monumental and valuable trees that are present in its garden, the results of which will be shared with the public through specific activities, in accordance with the MARKS project.
Duration of the project
2014 -2020
Operation co-financed by the European Union, the European Regional Development Fund, the Italian State, the Swiss Confederation and the Cantons as part of the Interreg V-A Italy-Switzerland Cooperation Program
